"Beginner's Luck" takes Ace, Jack, and their new extraterrestrial buddy from
the garage to a fictional Lake Koshkonong clubhouse.

The alien notices that one old mechanical slot machine is “humming wrong.”
Ace imagines probability fields. Jack permits one token. The alien apparently
uses an impossible ability—or exceptional politeness—to ask the machine for
three flying saucers and an enormous jackpot.

The story is supernatural comedy, not gambling advice. There is no repeat
play, strategy, odds system, loss chasing, or real venue. The practical payoff
is an overloaded utility trailer and Jack's conclusion that they need larger
tires.
