ACE NITETIME & JACK STATIC THE BUTTON SUNDAY COMIC SCRIPT — ISSUE-007 FORMAT One landscape Sunday page with seven panels. The first six create a slow, simple comedic build inside the garage. The seventh is a huge wide exterior payoff occupying the full bottom portion of the page. Clear reading order. CONTINUITY Match Issues 1-6. Ace: lean, dark hair, rust-red rolled-sleeve shirt, dark vest, jeans, silver radio headphones. Jack: stockier, sandy hair, short mustache, square glasses, olive work jacket, cream shirt, jeans, tool belt. The garage remains warm, cluttered, old, and full of unexplained equipment. PANEL 1 — DISCOVERY Visual: Ace pulls a dusty tarp from an enormous forgotten machine in the back of the garage. Its only obvious control is a huge glossy red button beneath a stamped metal label: DO NOT PRESS. Jack looks up from a workbench. Dialogue: ACE: Jack, do you know what this does? PANEL 2 — NOPE Visual: Tight shot of Jack looking at the machine with perfect calm. The red button glows slightly at the edge of frame. Dialogue: JACK: Nope. PANEL 3 — THE QUESTION Visual: Ace circles the machine, looking for clues. There are cables leading into the wall, old vacuum tubes, a large dormant gauge, and no useful labels besides DO NOT PRESS. Dialogue: ACE: Then why is it here? PANEL 4 — TWELVE YEARS Visual: Jack joins Ace beside the button, hands in pockets. A dusty calendar from twelve years earlier hangs behind the machine. Dialogue: JACK: Been wondering that for twelve years. PANEL 5 — THE STARE Visual: Silent symmetrical panel. Ace and Jack stand on either side of the button, staring at it. The button sits dead center. A wall clock ticks. No dialogue. Sound effect: TICK PANEL 6 — SIMULTANEOUSLY Visual: Both men suddenly reach for the red button at exactly the same time, each using one index finger. Their expressions show shared guilty resolve. The two fingers press the button together. Sound effect: K-THUNK PANEL 7 — THE PAYOFF Visual: Enormous wide exterior night view of rural Wisconsin and Lake Koshkonong. The tiny garage sits near the lakeshore. A gigantic brilliant red-gold beam erupts from its roof, punches through the clouds, and shoots deep into a star-filled sky. Barns, trees, water, radio towers, and distant roads are lit by the impossible beam. A small inset cutaway or two tiny speech balloons at the garage window let us hear Ace and Jack inside beside the now fully awake machine. Dialogue: ACE: What did we just do? JACK: Well, we know what the button does now. LETTERING Prioritize exact wording and short balloons. Essential labels: THE BUTTON, DO NOT PRESS. Sound effects: TICK and K-THUNK. No nonsense machine text. TONE Extremely simple Sunday-comic timing. The machine is mysterious but not evil. The final beam is spectacular, beautiful, funny, and unresolved—not a disaster or an attack. Do not show damage or frightened crowds.
